Snowfalls

Snowfall at the Vignassa is very beautiful and everything is pristine and soft and usually incredibly silent. However snow obviously brings with it a few inconveniences. It often snows without warning and at night. We have to clean the road ourselves with our tractor but this takes time. As it is a gravel road and uneven at the best of times it is not usually possible to clean the snow off right down to the gravel and chains or snow tyres are still advisable.

When snow is forecast most of our neighbours leave their cars at the end of the gravel road or down in the village. If you wish, you can do the same and we will willingly accompany you to and from your car of course at no extra charge. We have a 4 wheel drive which is fitted with snow tyres during the winter.

It is in any case advisable to have snow chains aboard when driving in Italy during the winter. Sometimes it snows very quickly here and to travel on many roads you are legally obliged to have chains aboard.
