The village of Torre Pellice

Ingrandisci Torre Pellice which the locals call simply "Torre", is a largish village with four and a half thousand inhabitants in an area of 21.2 square kilometers. Though small and a bit haphazard it has a wide variety of shops and services most of the shops being in the pleasant pedestrian area which runs the whole length of the village.

There are numerous excellent restaurants and pizzerias both in Torre Pellice itself and in the villages near by. There are bars all over the place and many with tables and chairs outside so you can sit and watch Italian life go by.

There are two large supermarkets in the village and of course banks, newsagents selling British and foreign newspapers, Chemist's, a Post office, petrol stations, an extremely well stocked outdoor activities shop, Catholic and Protestant churches, an ethnographic museum and a fantastic ice-cream shop selling homemade ices.

Most villages is the area hold a market. The market in Torre is on Fridays (Wednesday and Saturday in the nearby town of Pinerolo).
